Starry’s holiday-inspired flavor has sparked a debate among soda fans. Is it a hit or a miss?
Lemon and lime is a classic flavor combination that’s both frizzy and refreshing. Sprite and 7UP have already proven how the citrus combination can be such a hit. But let’s talk about Starry (formerly Sierra Mist). This brand has been among the ranks of best lemon-lime soda producers and it’s giving us a shake-up with the introduction of a new flavor for the holiday season. If you’re a fan of Sprite Cranberry, you might want to give Starry’s new soda flavor a try. Yup, no matter how fans are divided on this one.

Starry is set to debut a new Christmas-inspired flavor called Cranberry Blizz, and so far, it has gotten mixed reactions from soda fans. Some of them even confessed they’re not fond of Starry but that could change with this new holiday flavor. Other commenters couldn’t help but compare Starry’s new soda flavor with Sprite Cranberry. Apparently, they loved the original Sprite Cranberry, but not the Winter Spiced Cranberry variation. If Starry’s new offering will have the same flavor as the OG Sprite Cranberry, it’s slated to gain more fans this holiday season.
Starry’s Cranberry Blizz will reportedly be available in zero sugar version only, which is another feature that’s causing contention. Some fans were “hyped” until they found out that there’s only a zero sugar variation. Others praised the brand for catering the demand for sugar-free sodas. The cranberry-flavored soda from Starry will be offered in packs of 12 packs (already available in some stores) and also in 2-liter bottles.
From Sierra Mist to Starry
Curious why Sierra Mist has rebranded to Starry? According to PepsiCo, the new drink is made for a generation of optimists, which sounds like the young ones among us. It’s all about adding an extra pop of brightness to movie nights and game days, even to an afternoon of snacking on one’s favorite BLT.

Additionally, Sierra Mist didn’t just went for a name change. Another difference is that Sierra Mist was made with real sugar, while Starry uses high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener. Those who were able to try the soda shared that Starry has a crisp taste, and is slightly spicy for a lemon-lime drink. It has also been described to be less sweeter than Sprite.

Other New Soda Flavors to Try
‘Fizz’ the season to be jolly? I guess so, because there are other soda releases that should keep you excited (and busy) this holiday season and up until next year. For instance, PepsiCo will drop another beverage that gives a modern take on a classic flavor. By 2025, PepsiCo’s Wild Cherry and Cream will be available in your favorite grocery stores. It will have two variations: the regular flavor and Zero Sugar variation.

Another cherry-flavored soda should have hit the aisles this time of the year. The Shirley Temple-flavored soda from 7UP has been speculated for release in late October this year. Based on its festive packaging, it will offer an exciting blend of pomegranate and cherry flavors; 7UP’s Shirley Temple-flavored soda will also be available in a Zero Sugar variation. Both the regular and Zero Sugar versions will be sold in packs of 12. You can also get the regular version in a 2-liter bottle.

From The Club
I haven’t had a Starry drink yet but I was a fan of Sierra Mist. Since there’s a clear difference in their level of sweetness, I’m not quite sure what to expect from their new holiday soda. Hoping that the cranberry flavor would be enough to come through this drink! I enjoy sweet-tart cranberries but not a soda that’s too sweet, so I’m actually on board with the Zero Sugar version!
