These are the chips made famous by the iconic film Home Alone.
Ready to get nostalgic this holiday season? To be fair, we already are because hot cocoa-flavored snacks and breakfast items are back in stores. But this returning product from Lay’s hits different. If you’re rewatching Home Alone, this could be a nice snack to munch on or…the perfect props when re-enacting the scene that made this chips famous.

The Frito-Lay brand has relaunched Lay’s Crunch Tators, which are described as “extra crunchy potato chips.” So if you already enjoy the crunch of original Lay’s, then you’re gonna love this returning item! These chips were last seen in the mid-90s and they were the same chips that Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) ate after being left alone at home by his family in the classic Christmas film.
Foodies confirmed that Lay’s Crunch Tators are now available at Dollar General Stores, spotted in three flavors: Original, Mighty Mesquite BBQ, and Hoppin’ Jalapeno. The chips are sold in 8-oz bags at $4.45 each and will be in stock for a limited time only. Besides the nostalgic Crunch Tators, Lay’s fans are excited about the Holiday Table Collection (still waiting for them to arrive in US, btw). Just recently, Lay’s unveiled three holiday flavors in Canada stores: Turkey Dinner, Tikka Masala, and Jerk Chicken—all in festive-looking bags.
More Nostalgia-Fueling Bites
It’s always fun to look back on the good old times, even better with snacks and treats that will have us strolling down the memory lane. I’m talking about these recently launched items that evoke sweet, happy memories. Get them before they’re gone (again):

- Friends-themed Cereal from General Mills: The hit 90s sitcom “Friends” is back over at General Mills. The Friends-themed breakfast cereals will give you flavors of coffee and vanilla, an ode to Central Perk’s lattes. These purple boxes will hit Walmart stores in December.
- Ice Cream Bars from Iconic Candy Brands: Remember Baby Ruth, Butterfinger, and 100 Grand? These candy brands will soon be available as ice cream bars! Also arriving in December, the frozen treats will give you sweet, buttery flavors and lots of caramel goodness!
- The Grinch Milk Chocolate from Hershey’s KISSES: Another Christmas film that everyone loves will make a special appearance in Hershey’s Holiday KISSESS flavor lineup. A bag of this nostalgic treat has milk chocolate KISSES wrapped in cute Grinch-themed foil.

Latest Releases from Frito-Lay
Frito-Lay has other snack items that you will surely love. While they’re not as nostalgic as Lay’s Crunch Tators, they will excite your taste buds, and could also bring some of that Christmas cheer!

- Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Dill Pickle: Cheetos like to fire up fans and they’re doing it this time with Flamin’ Hot Crunchy Dill Pickle Cheetos. This new exciting flavor that’s spicy, sour, and savory will hit the stores in 2025.
- White Cheddar Snowy Cheese Balls Minis: These minis are looking a lot like great stocking stuffers! They have canisters that are looking so festive, you can’t ignore them. Of course, their sharp cheesy always hit the spot!
- Doritos After Dark: Not a snack, but it’s worth mentioning that Doritos has launched a new dining experience by opening its first restaurant Doritos After Dark in Crypto.com Arena. The brand first released its restaurant concept back in 2022, in an attempt to meet fans’ cravings for unique late-night bites.

From The Club
Rewatching Home Alone always winds up on our nice list every Christmas and I know Lay’s Crunch Tators from that film! I haven’t tried them though, so I’ll be sure to check them in the nearest Dollar General store. I’m still disappointed that Lay’s Holiday Table Collection isn’t in the US, but I can see that the brand is really trying to bring some Christmas cheer here.
