Mountain Dew has something great in store for all of us this summer! They’re coming out with three exciting new flavors just in time for the Fourth of July.
One of the biggest celebrations in the summer season has to be the Fourth of July. The patriotic holiday celebrates the Declaration of Independence and has everyone sporting the colors of the American Flag. Brands everywhere are also in on the celebration and we get to see their limited-time offerings that show red, white, and blue products. This summer, we’re getting Mountain Dew’s patriotic new flavors a little early.
To commemorate Independence Day, Mountain Dew is launching new limited-edition red, white, and blue flavors: red Mountain Dew Star Spangled Splash, white Mountain Dew Freedom Fusion, and blue Mountain Dew Liberty Chill. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.
First up, we have the red colored Star Spangled Splash. This has a combination of red berry flavors, particularly strawberry and raspberry. Then we have the white Freedom Fusion. This drink has a more citrus-based flavor profile with strong hints of lemonade and peach. Last, we have the blue Liberty Chill. It was originally released as Liberty Brew back in 2019 and 2020. This relaunch of the product retains the same flavor profile of over 50 flavors!
These new flavors are set to hit all major grocery and convenience stores this month. You can get them in 20-ounce bottles or 12-ounce cans for a limited-time.
While we don’t know the exact date of the release, stay tuned for more updates on when we can finally buy these new flavors of Mountain Dew.
A Legacy of Bold Flavor Innovations
Mountain Dew is one of the most popular brands of soda we have today. But did you know that when it was first released, it wasn’t originally marketed as a soda? That’s right! Barney and Ally Hartman, two bottlers from Tennessee, first created Mountain Dew in the 1940s as a mixer for whiskey. It wasn’t long before Charles Gordon and Bill Birdgforth from the Tip Corporation acquired the formula and refined it into the citrus-flavored soda we know today. Eventually, PepsiCo recognized the potential of the drink and acquired Mountain Dew back in 1964.

Since then, Mountain Dew has innovated its signature drink and adapted to modern consumer preferences. They managed to find the balance in blending the brand’s grassroots legacy with bold marketing strategies. Through continuous innovation, Mountain Dew found its footing and earned its status as a staple beverage today. With clever marketing and a focus on a younger demographic, Mountain Dew became synonymous with an energetic, adventurous lifestyle.

Most Popular Mountain Dew Flavors of All Time
Over the years, Mountain Dew has evolved from just producing their famous green lime & lemon drink. They’ve created a few more flavors over the years that became massive crowd favorites. There are two classic flavors that stand out in Mountain Dew’s history and they both have made their mark in popular culture. These flavors are Mountain Dew Code Red and Mountain Dew Baja Blast.

Mountain Dew Baja Blast
Arguably the greatest Mountain Dew flavor of all time, Baja Blast was created specifically to pair well with the Mexican cuisine served by Taco Bell. It has a tropical lime taste with an ocean teal color. It was the first time ever that a beverage company and a fast-food restaurant created a proprietary beverage. This means that back then, if you wanted to drink Baja Blast, you had to eat at Taco Bell. The Baja Blast had a massive cult following over the years thanks to its unique flavor. It has since been available for retail as of January 2024.
Mountain Dew Code Red
If you enjoy all the other flavors that Mountain Dew has produced over the years, you have the cherry-flavored Code Red to thank for that. Released back in 2001, Mountain Dew Code Red was the first time the company ever tried releasing a different flavor of their signature drink. Of course, it was a huge success. It was so successful that the release of Code Red alone increased Mountain Dew’s entire sales by 6%. This of course led to the creation of all the other flavors under Mountain Dew’s umbrella.

From The Club
I have yet to taste a Mountain Dew flavor I didn’t like. All of the flavors they’ve released so far are pretty darn good. From classics like Code Red to newer ones like Summer Freeze, Mountain Dew maintains a consistent quality when it comes to their drinks. This summer, it looks like it’s not gonna be any different. These three new flavors already sound great and I can’t wait to try them once they drop.
