A History of Tradition and Flavor Innovation
Blue Bell Ice Cream has been an iconic brand in the American ice cream industry since its humble beginnings in 1907. Believe it or not, the brand didn’t actually start out with making ice cream. In fact, they were originally focused on producing butter. First founded as the Brenham Creamery Company in Brenham, Texas, the company wouldn’t start manufacturing ice cream until 1911. It was then that they started making a name for themselves and creating a reputation as one of the best creameries to produce ice cream.
The brand started to hit its stride when E.F. Kruse joined the company in 1919 and began to steer it towards becoming an ice cream powerhouse. By the time the name was officially changed to Blue Bell Creameries in 1930, the brand had committed itself to crafting quality ice creams using the finest ingredients. They stayed true to their Texan roots while expanding their flavor roster and reach across the United States.
Blue Bell’s unique approach has always been to blend traditional techniques with innovations in flavor, a combination that has established them as a staple in many American homes. Their meticulous attention to detail and family-oriented values continue to resonate with old and new generations alike.
Iconic Blue Bell Flavors
Blue Bell bringing back the Oatmeal Cream Pie Ice Cream is a good thing. Why? Because it means they’re down to bring back old, discontinued flavors! For a brand that has been around for over a century, they’ve had tons of iconic ice cream flavors over the years. Here are some we wish they could bring back.

Banana Pudding
Who doesn’t love a good old banana pudding? This was a flavor that is criminally underrated from Blue Bell Ice Cream. This flavor had whipped topping and vanilla wafers blended in. It definitely captures the classic banana pudding taste. It was last seen back in 2016.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
With a name as enticing as that, it’s hard to imagine anyone hating this ice cream flavor. From its name alone, you can tell that this Blue Bell Ice Cream flavor is a decadent flavor overload. If you love both chocolate and peanut butter, you’ll love this flavor. Did we mention it has the taste of cookie dough too?
Blue Bell in Recent News
Blue Bell is known for keeping things interesting with their limited-time flavor releases. While they don’t always make big announcements, you can often find news about returning favorites on all over the internet. Recently, they had everyone talking when Blue Bell brought back their popular Peaches and Homemade Vanilla. This flavor, featuring chunks of juicy peaches, was a hit in the summertime.

Speaking of hits, Blue Bell is no stranger to making viral moments. One time they really broke the internet was in 2017, when they announced the return of their Dr Pepper Float ice cream. This unique flavor sent fans into a frenzy, with people sharing their excitement all over social media. News outlets picked up the story, further spreading the word about the comeback of this fan-favorite flavor.
From The Club
Blue Bell Ice Cream is pretty underrated in my opinion. The Texas creamery just doesn’t get enough buzz about their ice cream. They’ve been pretty solid over the years and make some of the best flavors you could possibly ever have. The Oatmeal Cream Pie Ice Cream is one of those flavors. All of us should do ourselves a service and try it while we still can; we don’t know how long it’ll be before they take it off the shelves again.
