Creating The Kettle Brand
The Kettle Brand started with its founder, Cameron Healy when the idea of bringing tasty food that is good for people came to mind. He first sold roasted nuts and cheese at the back of his van to natural food stores. In 1982, while he was at a Hawaiian beach when he saw homemade potato chips being served around, and that was when the idea of healthier potato chips came to mind. He focused on creating potato chips with everything that he had learned through the years.
Ever wondered how they’re made? They use whole potatoes that are cut into extra-thick pieces, and for Kettle Brand, those potatoes matter. In fact, their potatoes came from the following trusted farms:
- CCS Farms
- Heartland Farms Inc.
- Darrel Funk Farms
- Coombs Sod Farms LLC.
Kettle Brand actually differentiates itself from other potato chip brands that you see in supermarkets. Your Kettle potato chips are cooked in a process called batch cooking compared to other chips that use the continuous fry process. Now, why is the batch cooking better? Because it rinses the potato slices in cold water for it to release the starch. They’re stirred in an oil-filled kettle (you now get where the brand name comes from). They are continuously raked to avoid them sticking with one another. And the best part? They’re done in batches!
The Kettle Brand is also committed to being an “all-natural, non-GMO,” zero-waste brand from packaging to its production. In fact, their Salem, Oregon facility can be found on a two-acre wetland that surrounds a hiking trail and wildlife environment. They even encourage their employees to take a walk when they’re on breaks to keep their minds off work for a moment. Well, you know what they say that happy employees return great results!
That’s the Kettle Brand magic that differentiates themselves from your choice of usual potato chips snacking.

From The Club
Chips are a guilty pleasure of mine, but since I’m trying to cut off my junk food intake, I’m looking for a better snack alternative, and Kettle Brand just makes the cut. Their new Spicy Pimiento Cheese chips are perfect since most of the chips I consume are spicy cheese flavored or cheese jalapeño. It looks like I’ll be adding this guilt-free goodness to my grocery cart. 😋
