Butterfinger is set to release an ice cream bar based on its OG candy bar. Are we going to get Butterfinger BB’s mini ice cream pieces, too?
Nostalgia has been predicted to drive the flavor and snack innovation in 2024. At the moment, it looks like we’re seeing the results of it. In case you missed it, everyone’s favorite candy bar, Butterfinger, will get a makeover and hit the shelves as an ice cream bar. This caused some fans to remember another nostalgic treat with familiar flavors, the Butterfinger BB’s. With the release of Butterfinger Ice Cream Bar, is it possible for BB’s to make a return, this time, as a mini frozen treat?

Along with the announcement on Butterfinger Ice Cream Bar, calls for the return of Butterfinger BB’s resurfaced. There hasn’t been any official statement, or even hints, about the discontinued snack. Still, this didn’t stop the fans from hoping there would be a release of mini ice cream pieces based on the much-loved Butterfinger BB’s.
Looking at the bright side, fans of Butterfinger’s “crispety, crunchety, and peanut-buttery” recipe still has something to celebrate. As mentioned, Butterfinger Ice Cream Bars will be available in select retail stores in December 2024. Nationwide release is expected to happen in April 2025.
This new product features Butterfinger-flavored ice cream with an actual layer of Butterfinger candy crisps. All these are covered by a chocolate outer shell. Fans who were thrilled about this release labeled the bars “a masterpiece.” For those seeking the comeback of Butterfinger BB’s? The new ice cream bar could scratch the itch.
Calls to Bring Back Butterfinger BB’s
Butterfinger BB’s was first introduced in early 90s and was discontinued in 2006. It was a spin-off of the OG Butterfinger candy bar, and some fans claimed that the BB’s were much better. There are several reasons as to why this came to be: (1) BB’s offer a more convenient way to enjoy the classic Butterfinger taste, (2) each candy features a crispy peanut butter-flavored core, (3) the small and round shape make the BB’s a great pair with popcorn, elevating every movie experience. A lot of fans sorely missed the BB’s they even signed an online petition to bring them back.

After Butterfinger BB’s was yanked off the shelves, other product variations tried to replace it. There’s the Butterfinger Minis with little square-shaped candy bars and the Butterfinger Fun Size, which are smaller bars with the same chocolate and peanut butter taste.

Other Ice Cream Bars Hitting the Shelves Soon
While Butterfinger BB’s are deeply missed, there are lots of other sweet treats that deserve your attention. Ice cream bars are gradually becoming a hit, primarily because they allow us to enjoy a comforting dessert on the go. Besides the Butterfinger Ice Cream Bar, here are other releases to watch out for:

- Baby Ruth Ice Cream Candy Bar: This bar also starts with a chocolatey coating. Inside, you get a nougat-flavored ice cream with roasted peanuts. This gives you that chewy and crunchy ice cream adventure!
- 100 Grand Ice Cream Candy Bar: If you love creamy caramel, this one’s for you. The 100 Grand Ice Cream Candy Bar features a caramel-flavored ice cream layered with more ooey gooey caramel goodness. Its chocolate coating also comes with crispy crunchies, so a bite of this is a different experience.
These new ice cream bars will also be available nationwide by April 2025, and select stores will have them as early as December 2024. They are available in boxes of six, making them ideal for sharing. The bars are also individually wrapped—a grab-and-go option for ice cream cravings.

From The Club
I’m already thrilled about the release of Butterfinger Ice Cream Bar, but still hoping and waiting for the comeback of BB’s. I love bite-sized snacks because I think they can help with limiting consumption. Anyway, I wouldn’t mind finishing the entirety of each new ice cream bar (not in one go, of course!). It’s been a while since I had a Baby Ruth candy bar, and I never got to try 100 Grand. I hope their ice cream versions have the same nostalgic and classic taste!
