What was the weirdest Slurpee flavor you ever had? While you’re searching through your childhood memories, there’s a new flavor that might make the cut. It doesn’t matter what age you are now; the same fun flavors will make you miss the freedom you had back then!

Now, you might wonder how weird this flavor is. Let’s say it involves Coca-Cola and OREO. Yup, you read that right; 7-Eleven is dropping the Coca-Cola x OREO Zero Sugar Slurpee nationwide on September 9, 2024. But it’s already available at some 7-Eleven stores, so you might as well check if it’s available at a store near you.

Now, how does one come to this? In case you missed it, Coca-Cola and OREO recently teamed up for new limited-time products: Coca-Cola OREO Zero Sugar beverage and OREO Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookie. This is in celebration of the “Real Magic” of friendship between these two iconic brands.

The taste of the two products together would probably hint at the taste of the Coca-Cola x OREO Zero Sugar Slurpee. Coca-Cola’s  OREO Zero Sugar beverage has the same taste as the refreshing drink that we know of, with hints of OREO cookies. On the other hand, OREO’s Coca-Cola Sandwich Cookie has the same chocolate cookie base with a Coca-Cola cream-flavored center. Combine these two together and imagine them frozen. There you have it!

The Nostalgic Slurpee of 7-Eleven

Slurpee has given us more than brain freeze, as it’s been a huge part of our childhood! You may remember your parents driving you and your friends to a 7-Eleven after school. You choose among the available fruity flavors and pull the lever to reveal the frozen slushie surprise. Well, who says you can’t relieve those memories, right? It’s a good thing that 7-Eleven has got you covered with their new Coca-Cola x OREO Zero Sugar Slurpee.

Not only does it hold childhood memories for many Americans, but it also has its own nostalgic past that is worth peeking into. It all started with Omar Kendlik, who, in the 1950s, invented a frozen beverage machine from parts used in an automobile’s air conditioner. Knedlik worked with an artist to develop his brand for slushie drinks. Soon enough, he introduced the familiar brand of ICEE, which also serves flavored slushie drinks.

You may wonder how 7-Eleven acquired all of these into their Slurpee. Well, the Slurpee is actually born from the same ice machine! What happened is that 7-Eleven licensed the technology used in the ICEE machine from Knedlik in 1965.

A little fun fact, we all know that technology has changed a lot since the 20th century, but not the Slurpee machine. Well, at least not as dramatically as computers and mobile phones. It has gotten smaller, but the mechanics used have stayed the same. Simply, all they need to ensure is that all Slurpees shall taste the same.

More Limited Time Slurpee Flavors

The flavors are probably the highlight of any Slurpee experience. Of course, nothing beats the classic flavors of Coca-Cola, Blue Raspberry, and Pineapple Whip. But if you want to try a different Slurpee flavor, they’re also releasing limited-time ones, just like the Coca-Cola x OREO Zero Sugar flavor. We’ve compiled a few more of the limited-time Slurpee flavors you might just miss.

Ghost White Gummi Slurpee

The Ghost White Gummi Slurpee was a Halloween special flavor back in 2017 that kept fans wanting more. If you have tasted this candy-like treat, you may remember it in a ghostly white color but with a refreshing flavor of pineapple. There’s also a 7-Select Ghost White Gummi Bears that you can choose to top your Slurpee. We do wish that 7-Eleven brings it back this coming Halloween season!

Cap ‘N Crunch’s Crunch Berries Slurpee

A year later, 7-Eleven released a Slurpee flavored in our favorite Cap ‘N Crunch Berry cereals! It reminded fans of the breakfast cereal that they used to eat before school. It’s supposed to taste like the milk that was left in the bowl after eating all the cereals. To some, it’s heaven; to others, drinking a large Slurpee cup size of leftover cereal milk is not it. 😂

Nerds Grape and Strawberry Slurpee

7-Eleven is not done with their pure nostalgia mission! The following year, in 2019, they released the Nerds Grape and Strawberry Slurpee. You may remember Nerds candy as the one that you convince your parents to buy you at a candy mall stall. It became a slushie form by combining strawberries and grapes to create a Slurpee mix.

From The Club

7-Eleven’s Slurpee may hold memories, but I may have to pass on a large Slurpee cup, as sugar on ice is not my ideal treat, especially the new Coca-Cola x OREO Zero Sugar Slurpee ✌️. It doesn’t mean that I won’t drink Slurpee anymore. I might take a sip of a small cup during summertime, but I’d prefer fruit-flavored ones. Still, thank you, Slurpee, for being a huge part of my childhood.
