A History of Erupting Success
The story of Reese’s, a subsidiary of Hershey’s, is an erupting success following the many hurdles faced by the founder, Harry Burnett Reese, who wanted nothing in life but to be successful. By the age of 38, he was hired by the Hershey Chocolate Company to manage one of their dairy farms. It was when Reese would have his big break of finding a job that best suited him as he learned the ins and outs of the chocolate business.
However, another hurdle came in his life when he lost his job at the dairy farm due to costly operating expenses. He took on three more jobs to support his family and start a chocolate company called the R&R Candy Company. Not seeing the light of day, he came back to the Hershey Chocolate Company to work in the shipping department. It was then that he experimented by making candy in his basement.
After two years, Reese was free to quit his job at Hershey’s as he went on with his own company. He started selling his Peanut Butter Cups invention, which became a massive hit. The Hershey’s Company supplied Reese with his chocolate needs, and soon enough, Hershey’s acquired the business in 1963.

From The Club
I’m a member of the Reese’s lovers club as it’s one of my most favorite chocolate brands ever! I’m not much of a peanut butter person, but I love a good old peanut butter cup. Although I admit that the Chocolate Lava Big Cup’s chocolate center is not thrilling enough for me since I prefer the classic Peanut Butter Cups. But hey, there’s no harm in trying to get a gooey bite or two!
