The History Of Eggo
Did you know that Eggo Waffles were originally called Froffles? That’s right! When Eggo first debuted their frozen waffles in grocery stores, they were called Froffles — a portmanteau of frozen and waffle. People started calling them Eggos anyway and the Froffles name was dropped. But how exactly did Eggo start? Eggo first began back in 1953 when Frank Dorsa and his brothers developed a process of creating frozen waffles efficiently. Their product hit grocery shelves the same year and quickly became a hit because of its convenience.
Fast forward to 1968, the Kellogg Company acquired Eggo and started distributing them under their line of products. This led to a massive rise in popularity thanks to the reach that Kellogg had. Eggo became a cultural staple thanks to their catchy ads, most notably the “L’eggo my Eggo” slogan from 1972. Since then Eggo has been associated with frozen waffles and has since become a household name. The brand gained even more popularity around the world when it was featured in the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things.

Eggo’s latest set of waffles are awesome! I love eating Eggos and the fact that these new Fully Loaded Waffles are packed with protein, gives me an excuse to sneak them into my diet. I also love the new flavors. I’m not really a fan of strawberry but Eggo somehow makes them look really good! Definitely can’t wait to get my hands on these new waffles the next time I go for a grocery run.
