Oreo is back with another exciting collaboration! This time, they’re collaborating with the minds over at Lucasfilms to release the brand new Star Wars Oreo Cookies.
Nobody knows cookies like Oreos. They’ve been around for more than a hundred years! And in that span of time, they’ve come up with all sorts of ways to innovate their classic cookie. One of those ways is teaming up with popular brands or franchises to create specially themed Oreo cookies! And right now, they’re releasing Oreo cookies that will take you in a galaxy far, far away.
The Star Wars Oreo cookies marks the first time that the two brands are collaborating and what a collaboration it is. First up you have the gorgeous packaging with original character artwork replicated from a painting by Greg Hildebrandt, who was responsible for some of the most iconic Star Wars posters since 1977. Then you have the cookies themselves. These cookies are embossed with classic characters like Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Darth Maul, Luke Skywalker, and Yoda. Even newer characters like Kylo Ren and Rei will be on these cookies. Overall, there’s a total of 20 characters appearing on the cookies.
But that’s not even the best part. The best part is you won’t know which side you’ll be on. By that, we mean will you join the dark side or join the light side of the force? Each pack will either contain cookies with either red creme or blue creme, a nice nod to the lightsaber colors these characters use.
These sound like a Star Wars fan’s dream snack. They were first available via pre-order on the Oreo website on May 30, 2024 but will now receive a nationwide rollout on June 10, 2024.

Oreo’s Recent Headlines
In the last two years, Oreo has been in the spotlight for multiple exciting reasons. In 2021, the brand garnered social media buzz with the introduction of limited-edition flavors such as “Brookie-O” (a fusion of brownie, cookie dough, and the classic Oreo). This was followed by their extravagant “Lady Gaga” cookies, which turned heads with their bright pink and green colors, inspired by the pop icon’s Chromatica album.
In 2022, Oreo continued to create waves with the release of “Oreo Thins Extra Stuf,” providing more filling for those who craved it. Moreover, the brand partnered with popular ice cream brands to release “Oreo Ice Cream” and “Oreo Cheesecake” flavors, further cementing its presence in the dessert aisle.
One notable viral moment was when Oreo collaborated with Supreme, a high-end streetwear brand. This unique partnership featured red Oreo cookies emblazoned with Supreme’s logo, which sold out within minutes and later auctioned on eBay for astronomical prices. These strategic releases have not only kept Oreo in the headlines but also have helped the brand to remain relevant in an ever-evolving market.
Past Oreo Collaborations and Promotions
Over the years, Oreo has had many exciting collaborations with different brands. These team-ups will often leave a mark in popular culture. It’s a great way to give fanservice and at the same time, promote other brands. Most recently, Oreo partnered with Sour Patch Kids and Space Perspective to amazing success.
Sour Patch Kids Oreo
Oreo’s most recent collaboration was an unexpected hit. After all, Sour Patch Kids isn’t exactly paired with Oreo cookies. But this collaboration proved everyone wrong! They created a new kind of flavor that sees Oreo’s sweet chocolate cookie filled with a sour, tangy filling. This drew a lot of attention online with most fans skeptical about the taste.
Space Dunk Cookies
The Star Wars Oreo cookies are hardly the first time Oreos are taking to the stars. Just in March of 2024, Oreos released Space Dunk Cookies. Filled with a flavor called Cosmic Creme, these Oreos had a marshmallow-y taste to them. This was also done with a contest called Lift Off with Oreo that had people lining up to go nine miles high in the sky to dunk their Space Dunk Oreos while being actually near outer space.

This has to be one of the best news we’ve had all week! Oreos has been known for their collaborations but I didn’t expect to hear that this is the first time they’ll be collaborating with Star Wars! I’m a huge Star Wars fan and these new Oreo cookies are definitely something I’d be looking for. Just in time for the premiere of Star Wars: The Acolyte.
